Giant rabbit terrorises town

IN a dramatic case of life imitating art, armed guards have been called in to protect horticulturalists in a small northern English town from a rampant giant rabbit.
The monster rabbit, whose exploits have been likened to the plot of the Oscar-winning Wallace and Gromit film, Curse of the Were-Rabbit, is apparently big enough to rip prize leeks out of the ground and munch whole rows of onions and carrots.
The council has authorised drastic action.
Brian Cadman, an assistant gamekeeper on patrol, said: “We’ve been told to shoot on sight.”

Giant rabbit terrorises allotment

Sharpshooters have been called in to kill a giant rabbit that has been tearing through an allotment in Northumberland.
Jeff Smith, 63, first spotted the “monster” rabbit two months ago.
Nobody else has seen the frightening beast, although fellow allotment users in Felton, Northumberland, have noticed sizeable bites have been taken from their vegetables.
And they are bigger bites than a standard rabbit would give. Mr Smith claims it’s footprints are “about the size of a deer’s”.
Comparisons have been drawn with the recent Wallace and Gromit film about a giant rabbit that destroys vegetable patches.
But Mr Smith doesn’t wish to undermine the gravity of his sighting by comparing it to a fictitious rabbit. “The Curse of the Were-Rabbit was a film … this is the real thing”, he warns.
