POPE Benedict XVI says “greed” is at the heart of the financial crisis gripping the world.
“This crisis was born out of greed,” the pontiff said during his weekly general audience.
The Pope cited eighth century religious figure Ambroise Autpert, who criticised the wealth of monasteries at the time.
Autpert “denounced greed as the root of all evils. In light of the current global economic crisis, this is still the case,” the Pope said.
