Random thing… 1800 phone calls
Random thing from last weekend for me:
I’ve been receiving phone calls from random people on the weekend. They claim they were calling some 1800 number. So I had nearly 30 calls from random people, of which I picked up around 20 just in case these silent numbers were from people I know, and the other ~10 were just silent number missed calls that I didn’t pick up because I was at chinese school. Just some random funny examples below lol. Good to try to find something fun in life once in a while.

Dialogue example 1:
ET: hello
Random: SO YOUR SERVICE IS DOWN HUH?
ET: wha?
Random: my insecticide (???) isn’t working [maybe he said 'service']
ET: sorry I don’t know what you’re talking about
Random: is this 1800 XXX XXX?
ET: sorry you’ve got the wrong number, this is not a 1800 number
Random: well this is the number they asked me to call
ET: I don’t own a 1800 number
Random: really? that’s strange. thanks *hang up*
[the person above called again a few moments later and realised that the 1800 number he was given was really wrong]
Dialogue example 2:
ET: hello
Random: who are you?
ET: no, who are YOU? you called me
Random: I’m XXXX
ET: sorry I don’t know any XXXX
Random: um, I’d like to be transferred to your service desk please
ET: sorry there’s no service desk, there’s just me and I think you got the wrong number
Dialogue example 3:
ET: hello
Random: has your service been down?
ET: (frustrated at this time) no there’s no service, if you can stop calling this number it would be great
Random: …. it’s my first time calling this number
ET: oh, sorry, but I’ve been getting many calls for this ‘service’ whole morning and I don’t know what’s going on. If you can somehow contact this service and let them know the number is wrong that would be excellent.
Random: is this XXXX service?
ET: no
Random: oh ok. thanks
Dialogue example 4:
ET: hello
Random: is this XXXX service?
ET: no sorry it’s a private number
Random: well my service is down and the service desk just forwarded me to you
ET: it’s the wrong number. if you can ask the ‘service’ to stop forwarding their calls to me it would be great. I’ve received so many calls asking for this it’s not funny…
Random: really? ok I’ll try to call them back thanks!
ET: thanks
