Religious or not religious, there are points in the book that I think are really good guidelines to living – very true and to the point. It applies well even to the non-religious.

Elaborating on what I learned about the “3T’s” (not HK gambling):

Life is a Test - it’s full of challenges. So whatever happens in your life, treat it as a test. It’s ok to make mistakes, as long as we learn from mistakes. Try your best and leave the rest to God.

Life is a Trust. I couldn’t remember the exact words. But basically, the book says that things given to you are things entrusted to you by God; meaning that He gave it to you because He trust that you will be responsible and will take care of it. Applying it to life, all these responsibilities we have… we’re in charge of it because we have the ability to do it. So take responsibility of things, take care of it, and get it done.

Life is a Temporary Assignment. Compared to eternity, life on earth is short and temporary. So don’t get too attached to things. Once again, try your best, and leave the rest to God… XD

and finally… pray for those who lost their lives and those who are affected by the Victorian bushfires. Also, thank God that we were so close to the fires, yet we were unaffected – the winds didn’t blow our way.

There was a part of the story that went something like this:
Some level of people can recite, “the longest river in africa is the nile…”
but when asked, “what’s the longest river in the world?”
they’d reply, “I dont’ know”
if asked, “can you recite again?”
they’d go, “the longest river in…”
if asked again, “what’s the longest river in the world?”
they’d say again, “I don’t know…”

These people have the knowledge, but they don’t know how to apply it. That’s in the fictional world of Brave New World. It’s actually the same with many things nowadays. Say, students in many Asian countries. They have so stress studying, so they memorize everything, but when asked to apply, not many can do it.

I had sore eyes today, so I did some research on eyesight… incidentally, I found out that Aldous Huxley was clinically blind at age of 19, but can still see? It reminds me of Brave New World again. Maybe it’s a sign that I should re-read this book…

They say Aldous Huxley used this method to fix his eyesight, but I doubt the source’s credibility.

2. 他問可不可以寄PDF給人, 我回說如果檔案沒有很大就大丈夫. 之後問我可不可以幫他做個比較小さい的, 我就要把我所有仕事丟下先做他的, 不然又說我 “不想助け”. 弄了好久, 最小的檔案還是太大, 問JPG可不可以. “只要是可以寄出去就好.” 那我就弄了兩個JPG. “為什麼要ふたつ檔案? 對方可以按次のページ嗎?” 我解釋圖案檔案是沒有次のページ的. “我電腦能力沒你那麼好, 我怎麼知道PDF與JPG有什麼分別. 而且ふたつ附加檔案太麻煩了, 對方怎麼會知道要開兩個. 像我的話就不會知道.” WTFx3 所以現在是說他自己不會開附加檔案囉. 很清楚那是ウソ. 那平常朋友阿老闆給的信件不還是有很多附加檔案嗎. 本当にウソ.

OMG… 從大學開始用電腦, 說不知道PDF與JPG的分別. 私ととぼけてはいけな!! 基本常識, 不會就學阿. 有Google就不該有藉口. バガだろ。

這結束後, 神父問大家有什麼感受.
有人問神父: “你的手是不是有擦香油?”
神父回答說: “沒有. 你們所聞到的, 是主送給我們的香味, 大家聞到的都不一定一樣.”
覺得很神奇… 有人覺得是香油, 有的是花香, 有的什麼都聞不到, 我則是… 聞到我愛吃的牛肉腸粉豉油… 不懂… 只覺得很奧妙.

The letter you wrote yesterday was indeed very touching, and nearly brought me to tears, and I’m sure it has touched many of our hearts. Yes, recent days we have all been very busy with our preparations, at times we have neglected our loved ones including our friends and families. But yet, we are only spending all this time for the ministry as we love everyone and the Church. You have prompted us to bring this love back into our families. From my heart, I thank you for this reminder.

怎麼說呢? 小時候天真無邪的各位, 想什麼就說什麼.
友誼愛情阿什麼關係都很直接. 長大以後, 我們都發現世上很多”假人”, 也有很多”怪人”.

Some of these people are scared of “confrontation”; so scared that it’s sad. They are a most stubborn group of people, who have absolute terror of expressing emotions. To do this they avoid confrontation at all costs, which ends up starting the most heated fights because it frustrates and confuses the other party.

Confrontation不一定指吵架, 意思說要跟對方表達自己的意思. 不講的話, 對方永遠不知道. People can’t read each other’s minds, except psychics. 很多時候會用藉口來 justify自己的做法. 也許他們不知道正在創造不必要的誤會.

很多時候他們覺得自己不需要人關心. 一切正常. 那與其把事情說出來, 倒不如不說. 讓他們”自生自滅”算了 :o

在世上這種例子多的是, 記得眼看明明是好朋友的朋友們, 突然變成什麼話都不說, 還雙方都不知道為什麼. 未免有點太可惜了吧? 也許默默的祈禱才是唯一能我能做到的. May God bless.
